It is impossible to prevent piracy

The battle between copyright organisations and the pirates is turning into a cat and mouse game, as one internet service provider in Belgium found out. Scarlet found themselves under a court order to stop all piracy on their network. Nevertheless, after many attempts found that it is impossible to do so.

The people behind Scarlet went to the court with their findings only to hear that the court agreed and withdrew the order, this was after they we shown evidence that all of the anti piracy applications recommended by the music industry actually failed to do the job.

Under the original order the ISP would have to pay 2,500 Euros for everyday that, they allowed piracy to occur through their network. After a year the total amount owed was 750,000 Euros, hence the ISP heading off down to the court armed with their evidence. The fines have been cancelled and the fight goes on.
