Employees skipping security measures

If we have ever wondered why there appears to be so many lapses of security within large organisations, the answer according to a report by Cisco Systems, would appear to be down to the employees who fail to comply with the organisations security policies.

The main excuse is the simple fact that the security policies happen to get in the way of the employee doing their job quickly and effectively. This means that some employees are taking short cuts in order to make the job easier or faster.

The study found that eighty per cent think that IT security policies are unfair, forty two per cent admitted to not complying with the policies because they interfere with them doing their jobs effectively and over seventy five per cent of IT staff would like more updates for their policies.
